Double-blind study of 9SP20 (piroxicam injection) in orthopedic fields

Abstract
|
|
|
Piroxicam is a non-steroidal analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent and it has an extended half-life of about 40 hours and is suitable for once daily administration.
To evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness and side reaction of 9SP20, a double-blind study was carried out in 90 patients using phenylbutazone and placebo.
The results were as follows:
1. The effect of 9SP20 was "Markedly improved" in 16 patients (53.3%), "Moderately improved" in 11 patients (36.7%), "Slightly improved" in patients (6.7%), "Unchanged" in patient (3-3%), and there was no "Aggravated" case.
2. There was decrease of ESR and no harmful effect on renal, hepatic and hematopoietic function.
3. Side effect (transient facial edema for 2 days) was observed in one patient (3.3%).
It was concluded that 9SP20 (piroxicam injection) is a useful drug in orthopedic fields.
